OPHTHALMOLOGISTS
Dr Daniel Black MBBS (Qld) FRANZCO FRANCS

Dr Black has been practicing Ophthalmology on the Sunshine Coast since 1996. He is a graduate from the University of Queensland and trained in Ophthalmology in Brisbane, completing his training in Birmingham, England.

Dr Black has pioneered Micro-incision cataract surgery and is involved extensively in teaching surgeons in both Australia and Overseas. He is on the cutting edge of lens implant technology.

Dr Black is a Designated Aviation Ophthalmologist. He is also a Squadron Leader in the RAAF Reserves, visiting the RAAF Base Amberley monthly and is the visiting Ophthalmologist for the St George District Hospital in Western Queensland.

Dr Black is a member of various committees both nationally and internationally including the Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine, Australian Defence Force Joint Consultative Ophthalmology Group and The Australasian Tecnis Lens Implant Advisory Board. He is invited lecturer to the Institute of Aviation Medicine in Adelaide.

 
Dr Ioanne Anderson MBBS (Qld) FRANZCO

Dr Anderson is a practising Ophthalmologist with special interests in cataract, glaucoma and strabismus surgery, and the management of medical retinal diseases. He is licensed to use Botulinum toxin for facial movement and ocular motility disorders.

Dr Anderson is actively involved in clinical research, which includes presenting at international meetings and being published in peer-reviewed journals. He has previously been the Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology, Mater Health Services, where he was involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training.

Dr Anderson is a graduate of the University of Queensland, and completed his basic Ophthalmology training in Brisbane. He undertook his fellowship training in Glaucoma and Neuro-Ophthalmology in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

 
ORTHOPTISTS
Kate Colless Dip App Sci (Orth); DOBA

Kate Colless graduated from her orthoptic training in 1988 from Cumberland College of Health Sciences, Sydney.

Kate has gained broad experience in the assessment and care of patients with cataract, glaucoma and other eye conditions, whilst working for a number of years in ophthalmic practices in Sydney, including Bondi Junction, Bankstown and Macquarie Street. Her experience has also extended to assisting with minor surgical procedures.

Kate and her family relocated to the Sunshine Coast in 2002, where she has continued to provide care and education to patients suffering from glaucoma, cataract and other eye diseases, while expanding her education and patient skills. Kate has now developed a special interest in the area of Low Vision and is passionate in her efforts to assist patients to understand the nature of the vision loss and find ways to assist them in their daily living tasks.

 
Tyran Preece

Tyran Preece graduated from Latrobe University Bundoora, Melbourne in 2006 with a Bachelor of Orthoptic and Ophthalmic sciences.

Having gained most of his Orthoptic experience in Melbourne clinics, Tyran recently relocated to the Sunshine Coast as an enthusiastic new graduate. Through a combination of formal education and practical clinical experience, Tyran has developed into a compassionate and meticulous Orthoptist.

Tyran currently assists in patient consultations by conducting a range of diagnostic tests such as visual field analysis, retinal photography, pre operative measurements and ocular coherence topography.

Expanding his experience here at Sunshine Eye Clinic, Tyran is developing a special interest in the management, monitoring and diagnosis of retinal conditions with the use of retinal imaging technologies.
