What do I need to bring to my appointment?
You will need a driver, your spectacles, list of current medications and allergies and a current referral from a doctor or optometrist. -
What method of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, cheque, or an EFTPOS transaction from your savings, cheque or credit card. Credit cards accepted include Visa, Mastercard, or Bankcard. -
How long will my appointment take?
You can expect to spend up to an hour for a consultation. It may take longer if additional testing is required. -
Why do I need a driver?
Your eyes will be dilated for examination. This means you are not fit to drive a vehicle for approximately 2 hours after the consultation. -
Do I need a referral?
In order to claim a refund from Medicare, you must have a current referral from a doctor or optometrist prior to your appointment with the Eye Specialist. -
How long is my referral valid for?
A referral from your GP or Optometrist is valid for 12 months from the date on the referral. A referral from a Specialist Medical Officer is valid for 3 months from the date on the referral. Once a referral has expired, you will need to obtain a new referral before you return to the Eye Specialist in order to be able to make a claim from Medicare. -
Is there parking available at Birtinya?
There is parking available onsite. Use the southern entrance to the access the main car park. -
Where can I park if attending the Nambour Clinic?
There is a car park onsite for our patients only.
